In this article, I would like to share 11 life lessons I learned throughout 2020 and 2021 that I hope are useful in keeping your life peaceful, happy, and organized.
#1
Lean into your fears. Leaning into your fears can help you overcome the fear of failure in life. Opening up to your fear can show you many unforeseen opportunities that you wouldn’t want to miss in life. You may be thinking, “Well, what if this opportunity is risky?” My response is that you can’t just assume something is risky without trying, you got to try it out and if you fail, learn from your mistakes and move on. Learning from your mistakes is crucial to moving on in life. Trying out new opportunities breaks the barrier between you and fear which is key to moving on and succeeding in life.
#2
Get To Mindest vs. Have To Mindset (I learned this lesson from one of my favorite YouTubers, Ali Abdaal). Most of the time, when we need to do something, we think that we Have To do this and this mindset encourages negativity. We don’t open to the possible positive opportunities that this “something” can have. When we think to ourselves that we Get To do this, it fosters positivity in our mindset and it keeps our mind open to things we can learn or gain from the “something” we are doing. Fostering a positive mindset will surely help you to climb the ladders of life.
#3
Be responsible. Being responsible in your own life provides you a sense of purpose in life and it shows that you want to learn, improve, and boost confidence in yourself. For example, when you promise something, being responsible and keeping the promise increases your reliability among your family, friend, and whoever it may be. When you prove that you are reliable, it ultimately raises your self-esteem in society and you will be treated with respect by others. So being responsible has tons of benefits that can raise your status in society as a great and friendly person to be with.
#4
Focus on your goal in life. Focus is the key to thinking such as memory, perception, and decision making. Without focus, your ability to think won’t work effectively. Focusing is the key to success because thinking is what makes up most of your life such as the decisions you make, and it requires focus to make the best possible decision. To succeed in life, you must always focus on your goals. There are and will be tons of distractions all over you, but focus on your goal until you accomplish it. To stay focused on your goal, remind yourself of what is important in your life, get a good amount of sleep, and get rid of the distractions in your life that will stop you from accomplishing your dream.
#5
Have clarity. Clarity helps us focus on our goals and to take energized actions. Without clarity, you would be stressed, less focused, and confused. When your brain is blocked up, it’s hard to make decisions, but clarity helps you to make important decisions with ease without being stressed. Being focused on the goals and dreams you have is great, but having clarity in life and planning on how to accomplish it will significantly help you succeed in life.
#6
Think of a time in 15-minute chunks. What I mean exactly is to think of times like 7:00, 7:15, 8:30, 12:45. Organizing your daily schedule like this will significantly reduce how much time you waste in life. Sometimes we postpone our daily work to an hour then another hour, but organizing your time into smaller 15 minutes will make sure you are active and focused on what you need to accomplish.
#7
Always be thankful. It has been scientifically proven that being thankful daily will improve your mental health and your physical well-being. It has been especially linked to happiness. Being thankful also helps you to understand other people’s feelings which increases your emotional intelligence. What I exactly mean is that developing gratitude in life will help you be content in life and will help you to be emotionally supportive of others when they are gloomy. To be successful in life, you need intelligence but you also need emotional intelligence which is why being thankful is important in life. Emotional intelligence helps you get along with people more easily as well as be kind and helpful to others. Finally, being thankful can prepare you for the storms that will pass by in life. It will help you remember all the blessings you have had in life that will encourage you to move on and go higher in life.
#8
Push your “wheel”. Life is like a wheel, to make sure the “wheel” is constantly running, we have to push it daily so that we can continue to live. To live a good life, hard work is required, consistently pushing the wheel daily with hard work will help you keep moving up in life. This is just not a one-day thing, it is something you have to keep doing until the day you die and with persistent effort in pushing it, you can keep your life running smoothly.
#9
Follow the “BFI” for writing. BFI stands for Bad, Fast, and Imprecise. While writing, remind yourself that the first time you write something, it is a draft and that it will be bad, fastly written, and imprecise. So don’t be discouraged if your writing is not so good at first, it is natural for our rough draft to not be our best work, but just remember that you can fix it and make it better.
#10
There are no shortcuts in life. Remember how I talked about life is like a wheel? If you notice, there are no shortcuts to make your wheel run faster, you got to push it because it’s your own wheel. Also, note that some people climb up in life by cheating, lying, and other bad things and they succeed, but keep in mind that they planned their own destruction. One day, the lies or cheats they did will catch up to them and destroy them because evil never goes unpunished. Read the news, you’ll see companies and big empires that collapse because of the evil they did to reach such a high position. In life, being honest and showing true dedication will help you be successful your whole life.

Clean up life once a week. By the end of every week, you’ll notice that a lot has happened. Usually, during the week, there might have been a lot of mess at work or school that you realize that you need to clean up. So I suggest using a reminder to remind yourself to clean up everything in life that is dirty once a week. So you can make sure you are clean and ready for what is to come next week without your mess piling up every week until it’s too much to clean up.
